Community

Here are some of the ways we are involved in our local communities of Warkworth, Matakana and the surrounding district.

Warkworth Christian Foodlink

Our parish is a part of and financially supports the Warkworth Christian Foodlink, operated by Mahu Vision Trust (5 Pulham Road, Warkworth Ph 09 425 8861), which provides food parcels to individuals and families in our area that may be struggling to put the basic essentials on the table.

Donations of non-perishable goods can be left at our Church office (Christ Church, 43 Percy St, Warkworth) when open or at the bin outside Matakana Anglican Op Shop (beside St Leonard's Church, 24 Matakana Valley Rd).

Arts4Kids

Arts4Kids is a free after-school arts program for kids ages 5 to 10. Run in Warkworth and Matakana during Term time, Arts4Kids is a fun afternoon of activity and creativity. For more information, contact Nina at children@warkworthanglican.nz.

Selwyn Centre for Seniors

Friendship and support for older people

Each Monday we run an activities programme for retired senior people in our Parish Hall at Warkworth. It goes from 9:30am to midday. Cost is $3.00. All are welcome to come along for a morning of fun and fitness and new members are especially welcome.

Please contact the Parish Office for more information on 09 425 8054 or selwyncentre@warkworthanglican.nz

Our parish offers a ministry for those suffering from grief and loss. Seasons is a non-religious peer-support programme for people who have experienced a major loss in their lives.

For children, parents and teens, groups are run both in schools; they are nine weeks in length and are free. For adults, there is a six-week course run at regular intervals.

Life Threatening Illness is an additional programme offered for those young people living with a sick parent or sibling. There is no charge for this programme and is offered on an ad hoc basis, in response to need.

Please call Heather Free on 021 0813 3586 or seasons@warkworthanglican.nz
